Suite à la révolution syrienne, le régime de Bachar Al-Assad assiège le quartier de Yarmouk (Damas), plus grand camp de réfugiés palestiniens au monde, qui bientôt se retrouve isolé. Depuis l’intérieur du camp, le réalisateur témoigne des privations quotidiennes, des solidarités entre habitant.e.s, de leur détresse, mais aussi de leur courage. Un film pour cette petite fille rencontrée sur un champs de ruines, et pour toutes celles et ceux qui n’ont pas d’autre choix que de résister. The district of Yarmouk (Damascus, Syria) sheltered the biggest Palestinian refugee camp in the world from 1957 to 2018. When the Syrian revolution broke out, the regime of Bashar Al-Assad saw Yarmouk a refuge of rebels and resistance, and set up a siege from 2013 on. Gradually deprived of food, medicine and electricity, Yarmouk was cut of the rest of the world.
Abdallah Al-Khatib is Palestinian-Syrian filmmaker. He was born in the Yarmouk camp and lived there until 2015. He is now based in Germany. In 2016 Al-Khatib received the Per Anger award for his work for human rights. Little Palestine (Diary of a Siege), his directorial debut, has received awards at numerous film festivals.
