The Truth: Lost at Sea

Rifat Audeh, 2017, 56′

In English/Arabic/Spanish with English subtitles

This award winning film reconstructs the events surrounding the 2010 Freedom Flotilla, a fleet of humanitarian ships that attempted to break the blockade of Gaza and draw international attention to the suffering of Palestinians. Filmed on board and told by one of the survivors, the documentary shows both the attack itself and how the victims and their comrades were portrayed in traditional and online media. The film exposes what really happened and how the facts were distorted. Director Rifat Audeh is a Palestinian human rights defender and activist who was himself on board the Freedom Flotilla in 2010 and experienced the Israeli attack firsthand.

Rifat Audeh is a veteran activist and defender of Palestinian human rights. He was aboard the Freedom Flotilla that sought to break the barbaric siege on Gaza in 2010 and witnessed the Israeli attacks on the Flotilla firsthand.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with Astrid Jamar and representative of the Belgian delegation of the Global Movement to Gaza, to discuss together how to support the new Flotilla and how collective action can contribute to ending the genocide in Gaza.

The event is a collaboration between MorphoOut of Sight, De Cinema, De Studio & Global Movement to Gaza Belgium.
